I believe that this church is on Providence/Vernon Street. If it it, it's not called the Christian Centre, Pastor Black is the minister there. If this is the one I'm thinking of...maybe I'm wrong.
This church is on Main Street in the Main South area, near St. Peter's Elementary School. I grew up a couple of blocks away from it - I believe it's on the corner of Claremont Street and Main. In the late 1960s I think it stopped being used as a church. I first saw the inside of it when someone rented it to sell mattresses!
This is the First Church of Christ Scientist, located on the corner of Main Street and, I think, Claremont Street in the Main South area. I grew up two blocks away from it in the 1960s. I don't remember it being used as a church, at that time. It was vacant, but occasionally rented. I remember someone selling furniture there, which gave me a good excuse to go inside. It was completely vacant - no pews, altar, or church-like furnishings. Fascinating structure.

I used to live on Gardner Street. I had to walk past this church to go to school at Woodland Street school. The church used to be a Greek Orthodox Church. There is a set of cement stairs on the Claremont side, close to the rear of the building. The stairs went from the sidewalk down to a small parking space. There were about 30-40 steps, with a long metal pipe hand-rail. The hand-rail was cool. I spent hours, sliding down the rail. It was slick and fast. What mememories! I too grew up in the 60's around this church. I want to say that an African-American congregation bought the church from the Greek Orthodox.

Was "first Church of Christ Scientist". The location is 42.2533 -71.8170 at 880 Main Street corner of Oberlin Street. Go to google earth plug in address or gps and then click on street view for a recent picture of the structure, it is now home to "Union Hrisohorafiton" (a labor organization with Greek ties).

My recollection of the 1950s onward is that this was indeed always a Christian Science Church that ceased functioning as a church in the 1960s. Then was used by somes sect/group and then basically abandoned. Another Main South loss.

The Church building at Main & Oberlin was completed in 1913. The church traces it's origin to Boston 1879 with a chapters in Worcester in 1898.
